Register to Volunteer

Registering as a volunteer delivery driver with Ottawa Cares is quick and easy. Follow the steps below and you will be well on your way to completing your first delivery.

Step 1 - Orientation

All volunteers with Ottawa Cares will be asked to complete two online training and orientation modules before they can register for volunteer shifts.

Please save the certificates issued from both modules. They will need to be uploaded as part of your volunteer registration.

Ottawa Cares Orientation - This online module gives you all the information you need to complete a delivery with Ottawa Cares.

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) - All Ottawa Cares volunteers are asked to complete AODA training.

Step 2 - Volunteer Profile

Volunteer registration and scheduling is coordinated using software developed by InitLive, a local tech company specializing in volunteer management.

Register through InitLive and complete your volunteer profile. As part of registration you will be asked to upload your certificates from the Ottawa Cares Orientation Module and AODA Training.

That is it! Once you have completed the orientation and training modules, and your volunteer profile, you are officially part of the Ottawa Cares volunteer family.

Step 3 - Complete a Delivery!

Once your orientation is complete and you have completed your profile with InitLive, you are officially an Ottawa Cares volunteer.

Signups for volunteer shifts go out weekly. You can expect an email every Friday from us with relevant news, protocol updates and the volunteer opportunities for the following week. Then you will be able to browse the available volunteer shifts and self-sign up for one that suits your schedule!
