Bambi's Blog - June 23

Bambi Ross is a local Manor Park resident and former principal at Manor Park Public School. Bambi's Blog features free online activities and resources that are fun for people of all ages!

If elementary and secondary schools were open this week across the city there would be graduation ceremonies happening so I thought today should be Grad day!  Today's offerings are for  everyone, young and old, who have achieved something during this Pandemic.

If this June marks your official transition from  kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 8 , Grade 12, college, or university I want to congratulate you on your achievement! Way to go! You did it! This certainly won't be a graduation you forget!!

For all of us who are graduating from our Stay at home orders and venturing back out into the world - Congratulations as well!  As you reflect back  over the last few months, maybe you don't think you achieved anything but you did! You survived transitioning to working from home, becoming your child's teacher. Perhaps you learned a new skill, rediscovered an old hobby, started a garden, volunteered in a new way, or rediscovered the beauty of your community during daily walks. Maybe you finally had time to finish that book you have wanted to read or cleaned out that closet or completed your "Honey Do" list. Maybe you simply enjoyed spending uninterrupted time with your family or reconnecting virtually with old friends and family near and far.

Throughout my life as a student and then as an educator, June has always been the time I have reflected on the past year and planned for the year to come. So this June, as we move through the phases of reopening the city, my hope for everyone is that we take some time to reflect on the last few months and how we want this to impact us we move forward.

So today we celebrate all of us! Congratulations everyone!
