Without volunteers, neither food bank hampers nor prepared meals nor health snacks would reach the residents who need them most!

Ottawa Cares volunteer drivers freely give their valuable time to the community.

All 190 of our volunteers put up their hand to help since the March 13, 2020 provincial lock-down. Local not-for-profit organization, Volunteer Ottawa, really helped us attract volunteers from across the city -- especially important with the growth of food bank hamper deliveries.

Our volunteers are champions! Thank you.

Something very special has been happening at the Governor's Walk Retirement Residence!

Residents have been packaging healthy snacks for the children at the Boys and Girls Club. Under the direction of Peter Gareau, they have provided over 800 snacks -- stppping because of the Ontario-wide shutdown on December 26, 2020.

Children attending our after-school program, Before- and After-School in Manor Park, handmade holiday cards to thank each of the residents. And, to encourage residents to write back -- a pen-pal program, perhaps -- a self-addressed, stamped envelope was provided with each card.

Smiles all around.

A team keeps Ottawa Cares going: delivering food bank hampers and prepared meals, recruiting volunteers, developing technology solutions, securing funding -- and more! We would not be able to mobilize community response to the Covid-19 pandemic without them.

Thank you!
